Girls need flight plans, not fairy tales!™

Kids love imaginary play, of course, and the amazingly popular “Princess” craze proves it. But “Happily Ever After” is a little vague when we’re talking about the very real future of our girls. Women have proven themselves to be capable of very impressive feats, and successful women make great role models for our girls.

Research has proven that we can expose our girls to the opportunities available to them, but unless we can give them real life examples of women who have achieved their dreams, girls have difficulty picturing themselves doing the same.

Our parent company, Very Important Pilots, LLC, was created because we thought there should be a concerted effort to introduce girls to flight at a young age. It is VIP’s aspiration that, some day, the ratio of women to men in the aviation industry will be more equitable and the need to focus on girls specifically will cease to exist.

How do we propose to do this?

The nonprofit Girls With Wings, Inc. is an organization encouraging more girls to develop an interest in aviation through early introduction and participation in specialized presentations in educational and aviation based venues, as well as through our website, www.GirlsWithWings.com. Our goal at GWW is to nurture self confidence and motivate young girls to pursue various aviation careers later in life with community outreach and public awareness efforts.

The GWW merchandise line offers clothing and other items for girls of all ages; the rarely found aircraft themed items designed to let everyone know “Yes, Girls Can Fly!” While some may view one of our products as just a t-shirt, we believe that it is in fact a statement about he potential of girls to be intimately connected with Aviation (and other Science, Technology, Engineering and Math based fields) from the time they are born. To this end, all profits from the aforementioned merchandise are invested in developments to our educational program and scholarships.
